Sitepoint is one of the largest web development communities on the Internet. As well as publishing many articles and blogs on their website, they also offer full books about web development. They are based in Melbourne, Australia. As you probably have heard, there are fires making their way through Australia that are claiming lives and destroying entire towns. To help support the people affected by the fires, Sitepoint is having a massive sale on their PDF books. You can, for the next 3 days (until 13th February), buy 5 books from them…

Now that the SitePoint Podcast has gone through three episodes and I have had time to listen to all of them and assess the content, I highly recommend adding the SitePoint Podcast to your listening schedule! There are a lot of good tech podcasts out there (CNET's Buzz Out Loud is my favourite by far), but there are only a handful of good podcasts about web development alone. WebDevRadio is the only other web development podcast that I have found informative. Part of the reason I'm not a fan of other web development podcasts is because they…

SitePoint has an offer going on for the next few days where you can get a free download copy of The Art & Science of CSS for free just by following them on Twitter! This is certainly a creative way to promote their new Twitter channel. It certainly has proved popular as well because they now have over 10,000 followers! Not only is this book free, but, in my opinion, it's one of SitePoint's best books too. Go follow them on Twitter and get your free copy before it's too late! Anyone can follow me on Twitter too, but I don't have …

SitePoint has released their latest book about CSS titled Everything You Know about CSS Is Wrong! I've been very pleased with SitePoint lately for releasing a lot of books outside the typical beginner range. When they first started to publish books, most of their books were pretty basic (although still well written) and were certainly geared towards beginners in that particular subject. However, I guess since they already have books covering these beginner areas, they have been publishing a lot more intermediate and advance level books l…

SitePoint has been working to put together a comprehensive reference for web design, including references for HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Already, they have launched the HTML and CSS references, with the JavaScript reference not far off the horizon. Both are excellent resources for web designers, with thorough content and explanation for everything. The one downside I find is that the references are slightly hard to browse, with a number of expanding/collapsing menus. Another cool thing recently launched on SitePoint is their Guru Lists, w…

Just a quick props to David Mytton for his latest article published on SitePoint: Developing with the Facebook Platform and PHP. Anyone interested in developing a Facebook application should definitely take a look at it. I also came across a tutorial for developing Facebook applications using Ruby on Rails.…
