Last month, Adobe released BrowserLab, an online tool to help web developers easily preview their websites in multiple web browsers without needing to have each browser installed. You simply input your website's URL and it shows you how your website renders in Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Safari. Furthermore, it has an overlay feature that enables you to see two renderings on top of one another so that you can identify even the most minute differences. This feature is poorly named "Onion Skin View". browserlab_1.jpg|Screenshot of Adobe…

I am a programmer that, like many others, lacks basically any form of creativity. Sadly, I am not one of those talented people who can both design and program well. Hence, when I start working on a new website, I always play around with colour scheme generators to get the swatch of colours to use. I know generally what I want the base colour to be, but I just need a little assistance finding colours that work well with that particular base colour. Before, my favourite colour scheme generator used to be the one at Wellstyled.com, but recentl…

Adobe has released the official version of its new online photo-editing application: Adobe Photoshop Express. Overall, this application is basically an online photo-editing tool, which works rather well for that job alone. It really is more comparable to the features of iPhoto than to the features of Photoshop itself. I tested out the application for a bit, and I think it certainly has potential, but it also has a lot of room for improvement. On the good side, Adobe Photoshop Express is easy to use and the signup process is quick. Th…

This week Adobe has released Adobe Integrated Runtime, or AIR for short. AIR is an amazing advancement of web technology, bringing it to the desktop! Basically, it allows developers to use web technologies - HTML, JavaScript, Flash, etc. - to build applications for the desktop. AIR uses the Webkit rendering engine and allows developers to create applications that will work on both Mac OSX and Windows. Personally, I have not had a chance to play around with AIR just yet, but I am extremely excited to see web technologies being used on the …

Well, what is there to say about it? The most interesting thing for myself is that this will most likely mean the end of the separate Dreamweaver and GoLive applications. Dreamweaver is a commercially more successful and better known product, so my bet would be a Dreamweaver extended with all the good sides of GoLive *coughs*Presto*coughs*. Another interesting thing to watch will be Illustrator (Adobe)/Freehand (Macromedia). While Illustrator is arguebly the best vector graphics product on the market, Freehand offers some interesting things …

Adobe GoLive CS2 is out. What does this offer? It uses Presto (Opera's rendering engine) for the WYSIWYG interface. This is great news in various aspects. First, according to some (including myself) Presto is the best rendering engine out there. Second, because this software is easy to use everybody can do his thing with this and create a standards supporting web without even realising it! (in Dreamweaver as well, but that's still more IE oriented) It also comes with WYSIWYG handheld authoring and everything else Opera's rendering engine sup…
