Donations

I'm creating a site which main goal is to gather money for a specific thing. It will be related to piracy, and I have a quite nice plan on how to market the site and get money and visitors.

Now, what should I use to allow the visitors to donate money? Are there any alternative to PayPal?

Re: Donations

Swedish or international? I'm assuming international, but I can't come up with anything good right now.

Re: Donations

I made the site in swedish, but when I come to think about it it wouldn't hurt to make it international.

But the question ramains: can you trust PayPal enough?

Re: Donations

PayPal is very reliable in terms of getting money and such, as long as you follow their terms of service.

Re: Donations

Agreed.  I trust PayPal.  If you follow their terms and don't do anything crazy (like SaveToby.com) you'll be fine smile

Personally I used Paypal once and I had no trouble with it, it was quite useful because of the international thing.

Re: Donations

I hear a good rule of thumb for PayPal is that you shouldn't keep more money in your account then you're prepared to lose.

And for international stuff, try 2CheckOut, world pay, or something similar.

Re: Donations

Yeah, I try to always keep less than $500 in there.  Of course, my one gripe with PayPal is you can only withdraw $500 a month, but it seems to work out okay more or less.

Re: Donations

$500 max á month is too low... Maybe I should just use my bank account.
